Thirteen-year-old Andrei is one of the children growing up with the support of SOS Children’s Villages Romania. Curious, thoughtful and always eager to learn, he is building his future step by step in a community that offers safety, support and the freedom to dream.
A history enthusiast who enjoys games that challenge his mind, Andrei has recently discovered a new passion: building with LEGO. He loves putting together complex models and is always looking for his next challenge.
“See this ship? I built it all by myself in less than two days. Now I want to try something even more difficult—maybe a rocket,” he says proudly.
At the SOS Children’s Village, Andrei looks after his younger sister and remains close to his biological sisters. Although he can be shy at times, the support of his SOS mother, dedicated specialists and the wider community is helping him grow into a confident and caring young person.
Through our partnership with SOS Children’s Villages Romania, we help create safer and more sustainable communities where children and young people can thrive.
Together, we helped the SOS Children’s Village Bucharest become the first social community in Romania to generate its own renewable electricity. Lower energy costs mean that more resources can be invested in programmes supporting children like Andrei, while the renovation of two buildings has created modern spaces for education and psychological counselling.
For Andrei, having a place to call home means having the opportunity to grow, learn and build the future he dreams of.
